Editing tactical understanding
If the tab is missing, the club's first team has no players.
Use the club's Tactical Understanding page to raise a team's match exposure in each tactical area. It follows the game's Training โ Tactical Effectiveness โ Tactical Understanding screen. In FMRTE 26 this page was called Match Preparation.
What the values meanโ
Each of the club's teams has its own tab at the top. Under Match Exposure, every area shows a team average from 0โ100, with a bar and a text box:
| Group | Areas |
|---|---|
| In Possession | Passing Style, Build Up, Chance Creation |
| Out of Possession | Line of Engagement, Pressing Intensity, Pressing Trap |
| Below both groups | Position/Role |
Players keep a separate exposure for each tactic setting of an area. For the club you manage, each area shows the exposure for the setting you trained last. For other clubs, which have no training records, each player counts with their highest exposure in the area. Position/Role is the average of each player's familiarity with their positions and roles.
Players who have not played a match have no match exposure yet, so they stay out of the averages. A note under the values says how many players have played, for example "15 of 31 players have played a match".
Change the valuesโ
Type a value in a text box, or press or drag along its bar. The text box shows the change as pending until you save.
The arrow at the top right sets all seven values to 100 for the selected team. A value that already shows 100 is still written, because a rounded average of 100 can hide players below it.
Select Save Changes to write the changed areas only. The new value goes to every player in the team who has match exposure, for every setting of that area. FMRTE never changes the club's training records.
The save is listed in Edit History, but it cannot be undone there, because FMRTE writes one value to many players and keeps no old value for each of them.
Worked example: raise Pressing Intensityโ
- Open the club and select Tactical Understanding, then the first team's tab.
- Change Pressing Intensity from 60 to 75.
- Select Save Changes.
- In Football Manager, check Training โ Tactical Effectiveness โ Tactical Understanding.
